Groupon - Modern Asian Diner (MAD)

Groupon Purchase again...this time we bought the voucher for MAD. We were attracted by the decor of this restaurant when we were at Turf City the other time to tried out Omakase Burger. MAD is a new modern concept restaurant that combine shopping and dinning experience together.

Easy to make reservation? 

I called to make reservation when I was on the way down. The receptionist say we can just walked in no reservation needed. So ..Yes it was easy to make reservation!

How is the experience?
The Entrance of MAD..items on sale is quite interesting but prices is not cheap thou.

Very modernly and chic decorated restaurant, it was very empty on a weekday night. 

This is interesting..we get to order our food thru ipad...alternative to recent tight manpower situation. Their menu is a mix of  Chinese, Asian and Western. They had a dim sum menu  too.

Mango Smoked Duck Breast...this was good....mango seems to go well with everything :)

Foie Gras, Whayu Beef Claypot Rice...talk about extravagant...this must be the most extravagant claypot rice I had eaten....never thought that Foie Gras can be used to cook Claypot Rice...interesting combination and it is delicious.

Dumpling Soup...the soup was served warm. I guess the waiter must have forgotten about this soup and let it lying in the kitchen for sometime. The soup was served when we asked the waiter where is our missing soup. Inside the huge dumpling is generous portion of shredded crab meat and scallop. It is a waste the soup is served warm as this soup with its lots of shredded crab and scallop taste abit fishy when it is not served hot.

Truffles fries..the truffle fries is so good that Nick finished the whole bowl himself....I only managed to grab a few strand from him...

Spicy Miso Pork Belly Burgers...one of the disappointing dish that night...the burger was bland and wet....still prefer my burger with patty

Crispy Beancurd Skin with Prawn...this is good...the skin is crispy.prawn is crunchy...

Total dinner : SGD 92/- (we never order drinks, ice water is served free), we top up $10/- after using our Groupon Voucher.

Any Hard Sell?

No.

Will I go back again ?

Yes ,if there is Groupon deal. The food there is ok with some hits and misses. Service staff needs to be more attentive as well. The night we went, there is more service staff than customer but the service staff is not attentive and can miss out our order when we are the only customer in the restaurant. 

The location is rather Ulu there is nothing much you can do before and after dinner. The whole mall is quite dead on a weekday night. It won't attract me to go back there if there is no Groupon Voucher.

Omakase Burger @ Turf City Grand Stand



The newly renovated Turf City Grand Stand had added quite a number of new restaurants. As usual Nick had craving for burger and fries so we decided to try out this restuarant that serve burgers and fries. The burgers served here is made from the freshiest ingredient. The patty is not frozen patty imported from US that you don't know which part of the cow they use but is made daily at their kitchen using the premium steak cut. The cheese is not normal cedar cheese but meltable cheese imported from US.

Omakase burger..Omakase which mean "its up to you" in Japanese..

The resturant is more like fast food outlet..first you order at the counter, they will give you a pager that will beep when your food is ready...you will then collect the food at the counter.

Homemade lemonade and Crafted Beer...The beer had a strong rusty smell which really turn us off...we do not know is it supposed to taste like this....or it is really rusty lolz......but I certainly do not recommend you to order the beer.....the lemonade taste fresh....

Cheeseburger ($13.50) , the beef patty is really juicy , bread is soft not snatching the limelight of the beef patty....and the cheese is great....

Ultimate Burger ($17.50) , the ultimate comes with onion, cheese, beef patty, bacon and mushroom....

Truffles fries, according to the truffles fries expert...he say the truffles fries is good...each fries is crispy and had truffles taste....very well done...

p/s : Truffles fries expert ranked...PS Cafe truffles fries as the best in Singapore currently...

Total Damage : $50.80

Overall : The burger is nice, patty is juicy and you can really tell is made from fresh ingredient , but I felt the price for the burger here is steep as the burger is quite small and there is no sides that come along with the burger...if you are really hungry...the burger here will not fill you up...
