22 April 2013
During the recent posting, Maggie blogged about her Orlando trip and how Nick proposed. After the fairy tale proposal, comes the reality. There are 1001 items on the check list. The most tedious item would be to choose a GOOD bridal. We have heard so many unhappy stories about how some sales staff at bridal salons would hard sell couples into signing a package with them and end up not delivering on what was committed. And oftentimes couples end up paying more than what was expected as there were many hidden costs in the wedding package.
Since Mr Guan was away holidaying with his buddies, I made myself busy by jio-ing Maggie to search for the perfect white dress.
We arranged to meet at 1pm at Tanjong Pagar but alas, it started raining at 11.30am! It sort of dampened our mood a little, but nonetheless we went ahead as planned.
I have asked the bride-to-be to wear something easy to remove but she wore something EASY.
No one could tell she is the one getting married. The standard question when we step into the bridal: Which of you is the bride?
First stop: Lunch before the action
Very pretty MK wristlet from her USA trip
Anning & I in diagonal strips and horizontal stripes.
We totally forgot to take the food when it arrives as we are too hungry. We order a Kim Chi stew and the famous soy garlic wings. Total damage $52 for 3 pax.

After filling the stomach, is action time!
1st bridal: My Dream Wedding
Standard procedure: To browse the photo album that is being display at the door. Then moving in to view the gown. Last step is when the sales reveal the $$$.
Sitting in My Dream Wedding
Although I am married for 2 years and counting, but I still like to look at the wedding pictures
Moving off to the 2nd bridal shop. Today is a wet and slippery day.
Anning is slower as she is in her Ferragamo heels.
2nd Bridal: Di Gio ( I always wonder why is there always a uncle standing at the door of most of the bridal studios. Do you know why?)
Looking at the expression, the photos don’t seem to be great.
But still we went in
The wedding gown selection - We feel that di gio has the nicest & widest collect of wedding gowns, 4 levels all belonging to di gio.
A woman cannot resist all these beautiful dresses. Look at how busy Anning is. But there is something I have to comment, Maggie is by far the laziest bride I even seen, she refuse to try on any wedding as she says she is too lazy in changing "-_-"". She merely browses through the wedding gowns on the rack of every bridal. Whereas for a married woman which is me, I WANT TO TRY ON EVERY SINGLE PIECE! hahaa.
Bridal dress makes people happy!
Moving to level 2 to look at more collection of di gio. Level 1 is where di gio keeps the latest wedding gown, Level 2 are the gowns for indoor shoot, Level 3 are man suits and indoor studio and lastly on Level 4 are the gowns for outdoor photo shoot.
Anning is already tired at the 2nd bridal already.
Very fast we move off to the 3rd bridal
Ils' adorent - Personally I love this shop the most. Although they do not have an extensive collection of wedding gowns, but the photos touches my heart. And to me, that’s the most important thing in a wedding.
Vintage decorations
I feel at home.
I believe the photo touches Anning's heart too. Venue: Santorini
4th bridal and this is also Angie's bridal, Le Grand.
As the name has sound, the packages are very expensive too.
The gowns at Le Grand are handmade and they are removed from the rack after it has been rented out twice. Therefore it explains the price tag.
Next moving to La Belle, Maggie wanted to go in to take a look at the wedding gown but the shop is just too crowded. So we gave up and move on.
Z wedding is the sister's company of Le Grand. The only difference is that the wedding gowns at Z wedding are half machine made and they are remove from the rack after renting out 4 times. Therefore if you are looking for more budget gown, Z is the place. Any also the main selling point of Le Grand & Z wedding is that your wedding shot will be taken by Chris Ling Studio. Not by Chris Ling himself but by either 1 of the 4 disciples.
Anning is very busy with the gowns again.
5th bridal: Julia. But we did not enter this one as Maggie did not like the chinese name of Julia. She says it was cheesy
朱丽雅,
I thought it sounded ok.
6th Bridal: Rico-A-Mona
Seriously at this point I was already stoning. I need a coffee break to re-charge.
Whatever the sales staff was saying just flew past my head, 2 wedding gowns, 28 photos, 3 hairdos, 1 makeup…………………………………………………….
Finally we cannot take it anymore. Is time for Coffee break.
I would say that we have accomplished what we wanted as Maggie somewhat knows what she is looking for already.
Finally is my outfit of the day shot @ Duxton Hill. Photo by Anning
Outfit of the day: Dress: ASOS
Clutch: Alexander Mcqueen
