OSAC |
On a rainy Sat morning, the two of us arrived at
the OSAC College at No. 1 Lorong J Telok Kura for a Bento Making Session. We
paid a promotional fee of $90 for 2 pax which included all materials.
First we started with the green tea jelly which
was pretty simple. All that was needed was gelatin powder, Season brand green
tea, 1 tablespoon of sugar and any fruits you would like to have in your
jelly.
After the green tea jelly was done, we seasoned
tuna patty with Maggi chilli sauce, mayonnaise and ½ a pickle (just for the
sweet n sour taste) and then left the tuna patty aside.
Then we proceeded to the chicken skewers! We
were told to use only chicken thigh as it is more tender. We peeled all the
fats and veins away and cut the chicken into small square chunks. Then we
seasoned the meat with dark sauce, Maggi chilli sauce, honey and salt in a
ZIPLOCK bag. Yes! In a ZIPLOCK bag! We squeezed out all the air and left the
meat in the bag for 15mins. In the meantime we resumed making the tuna
sushi!
We had to first season the rice which was
already cooked for us with 2 tablespoon of vinegar and a pinch of salt. The
rice had to be fanned till it cooled. While I was preparing the rice, Maggie
went ahead to deal with the eggs. The difference between Japanese omelette and
Chinese omelette is the sweetness. We had to season the egg with 2 teaspoon of
sugar and a pinch of salt.
Tada! The omelette is completed.
At last we could start decorating the sushi!
After struggling for 3.5 hrs.. our bento box was finally done! But I have to admit it ended up looking a bit sad though.. hahaha…. ….
