Hi everyone, how was your weekend? I had a really relaxing weekend even though I was not in Singapore.
Firstly I would like to dedicate this post to Mr Guan. For what reason, you ask. Well, for you beloved readers of my blog, you would know that I was actually in Bangkok on 5th July. But I was staying at the Four Seasons then and I really, really wanted to try out the new W Hotel Bangkok so I just had to plan a re-visit. And who could I count on for this riduculous request? Of course it had to be my dear Hub. As usual Mr Guan was very accommodative to my absurd request as long as it didn't burn a hole in his pocket "-_-"" And so anyway to cut a long story short, here we were departing for Bangkok!
Mr Guan's outfit of the day:: Top, Polo Ralph Bottom, Padini Shoes, Feiyue

On the way to CIP terminal
I would like to introduce the JETQUAY services to everyone who hates to Q.
You can read more about the service here.
Buggy right to the boarding gate.
Cathay Pacific Business Class, the configuration of this plane is not the usual seating and much, much better. You get your own little space with absolutely privacy.
Huge TV screen but no movies were available as it was a short haul flight.
Good headphone
But the maintenance of the plane was not really good and the seats were pretty old.
But this of course did not bother the man.
Me in my own little space.
You get to drink before the flight takes off!
Menu of the day:: Steamed cod with cream sauce and veggie on the sides.
Chocolate ice cream with lemon tea.
They actually give you a premium lane pass for the custom in Bangkok! Totally no Q.
Waiting for our luggage
Hi W Bangkok, I hope you dont disappoint me!
106 North Sathorn Road | Silom, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
This beautiful old house is located right on W Bangkok's site. I heard from the staff that they are gonna transform this beautiful building to accommodate more restaurants!
Interior of the lobby
Fancy lights as usual
Mini bar
The concept of W Bangkok is MUAY THAI therefore all the decorations and you see in the whole hotel revolve around this famous Thai sport.
I changed quickly cos it was shopping time!
Local designer's corner in W
Please change more money for me..
Platinum Mall - A MUST COME PLACE FOR ALL.
But sadly, I had only 1 hr to shop till the shops close at 6pm.
Water house beside Platinum Mall
Polo Ralph shirt + Cheap Monday berms
Next on my itenerary was Greyhound Cafe at Siam Centre. Eversince my Greyhound experience in ifc Hong Kong, I was always constantly thinking about their ice tea.
But Greyhound is really popular in Bangkok, and we had to wait for about 45 mins for a table.
While waiting, we roamed around the mall.
A showcase of the young talented designers with the already branded designer labels.
I loved looking the the deco of the shops in the shopping mall. They were all so elabroate and all so different. The landlords in SG should really allow the shop owners more leeway to do up their shops instead of imposing a whole list of restrictions.
Finally
Asos crop top with Asos stripe shorts. you can buy it here.
My favourite - Ice Lemon tea with ice tea cubes.
Ice milk tea
Corn and crab fruitters
Spicy pork balls
Phad Thai
Tom Yum noodle
The next morning I attempted to be healthy and wanted to take a swim in the pool at 8am.
But the water was really too, too cold so I went back to the room to nap.
After napping it was doll up time for lunch. Here I was trying on Pikling's hat which I helped her purchase at Platinum Mall the day before.
Trying on mine
Mine again
Karen's
Lastly I decided not to wear any hat and just put on a necklace.
While waiting for Mr Guan to get ready, I needed a drink before I start nagging.
Pina colada. 320 Baht
Arts exhibition at W
Outfit of the day: Dress, MDS Sunglass, Cutler & Gross

Complimentary dessert
Thanks for lunch, Mr Guan!
The effects of red wine.

No fuss. After spa it was nap time again.
Settled dinner at Kitchen @ W
And soon it was check-out time.
Using the last bit of complimentary Wi-Fi
Premium Lane, fast.

Singha Light is really so light. Alcohol level 3.5%
And again. I seriously do not think the world is so unsafe.
Yummy sweet and sour prawn with egg fried rice.
Mr Guan chose yellow curry.
Buggy picks you at your gate, sends you to the CIP terminal, picks up your luggage, calls a cab for you and off you go!
Conclusion of the whole W Bangkok experience:
Pros:: W Bangkok has maintained its chic-ness in terms of design and the number of events going on. Before I checked in, I actually googled on the room rates and found out that it was lower than what I paid for. Therefore upon check-in, I shared my displeasure with the staff who gladly revised my room rates to the lower rate but of course without the breakfast and wifi perks.
As they are relatively new, the promo room rates were compatible to other 5 star hotels. But if they were to revise the room rate upwards, I will definately not recommend this hotel.
Cons:: Although the swimming pool is open 24 hours, the pool side bar only opens from 10am. And also the pool is not a heated, therefore one can only start swimming during noon time when it's warmer. There is no TV in the bathroom therefore you need to bring in a magazine if you are intending to soak in the bathtub. Aircon in the public area is too cold.
Location is a bit far from the main shopping area.
I will give it a 3/5 rating.
Next on travelogue - Spain (Ibiza, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona 8.8.2013)
